Welcome to Cyperus papyrus L. infraspecies

This is a pilot study of the infraspecies of Papyrus (Cyperus papyrus L.), famous source of paper in antiquity, taxonomically contentious ...

This short investigation does not resolve the infraspecific taxonomy of this complex species, many more, and newer, specimens would be needed for that, and more time and depth of analysis.  However, it is clear from this work that the species is not uniform and almost certainly contains more than one separate taxa, including at least one which might come to be regarded as another species.  Furthermore, its many and varied contemporary virtues mean it remains a prodigiously important species.
